Jason got his start in computers the way many people do, tinkering with them and finding out what makes them tick. He got his start in the computer field building systems for friends and it wasn't long before he decided to make his part time hobby a full time career.
A few years into his new career he took a job as a network administrator for a technical training facility and was introduced to the training industry.

It was this environment that really excited him for it allowed him to not only gain exposure to new and cutting edge technology, but an opportunity to dig under the hood and develop a deep understanding of how it all works. Better yet, he was able to take this knowledge and pass it on to others, helping them start new careers or improve the ones they already had.

After almost 7 years as a technical trainer Jason taught 21 of the 28 courses offered at his training facility and obtained 14 certifications including 3 MCSE certifications in NT, 2000, 2003 and the Cisco CCNP. In addition to a passion for teaching, Jason built a side business with a colleague and installed over 40 networks for small businesses and worked as a consultant for Cisco products over a period of a just a few years. Jason is also working on a book, and recently licensed a patented invention to a major company!

It's important as an instructor to not only know the academic side of things, but also how things function in the real world. A balance of both the "how" and the "why" along with the ability to relate to people is what sets great instructors apart from the pack. - Jason Emerson

This combination of theory and practical application, coupled with a enjoyable presentation style has made Jason a sought after instructor year after year.

Jason is currently working as a network engineer supporting a worldwide Cisco network of over 30,000 subnets, and in his free time he's studying for the Cisco CCIE certification exams.

Although Jason has a passion for technology, his happiest moments are spent with his family. Loving the outdoor lifestyle and living in sunny San Diego, surfing, mountain biking, golfing, camping and playing with his children help him stay grounded.
